Straight Murder Mystery Dinners

The industry standard bring 4-7 actors interacting with your crowd leading up to a murder and a comedic investigation. Meet and talk with the crazy cast of characters, witness a crime and then work together to solve it!

ambush

Ambush Mysteries

We create a scenario where the audience is unaware that a murder mystery show is taking place. Up until the dead body hits the floor, they think it is really happening. The relief lets them break loose and have a great time!

participation

Participation Mysteries

With both Clue Parties, where everyone at your party is a character, and Cambridge Solution Mysteries, where we use roughly one participant from your group per table, we have great interactive mysteries to get your people directly involved!

wedding mysteries

Wedding Shows

People are often looking for new ways to have their nuptials. A mystery evening is a great way to have a unique and memorable experience with friends and family. We do REHEARSAL DINNERS and RECEPTIONS.

frick and frack

Frick & Frack Shows

More of a stand-up comedy routine, this involves one or two detectives investigating an improvised whodunit while directly involving your audience members in the crime. This creates a personalized show that could never be repeated!

We built a variety of Participation Events to get people talking together by playing the characters. We found that people who don't see each other very often love the opotortunity to have face time with one another. We also found that playful people love to mess with one another. Regardless of the reason, people love the opportunity to be part of the murder mystery action!

TYPES OF PARTICIPATION EVENTS

AN APPROACH FOR ANY GROUP

One of the more flexible approaches, it uses several of your people as characters that either go group to group, usually at tables, to answer questions to solve the crime. Alternatively, the characters could be stationed in locations around a room, a facility, or outside, waiting for characters to come to them to ask them questions. This is a double contest with people trying to determine the murderer and those playing the suspects trying to be the best actor.

Similar to the Cambridge Solution, the Dartmouth Plan is for smaller groups allowing for everyone to be both a suspect and detective. This is usually more of a mix-and-mingle affair, though it can be done Speed Dating style.

crossroads

THE CORNELL CONUNDRUM

This is more of a team version with presentation skills involved. The people in the room are in teams of prosecutors in the DA's office. They choose from a collection of suspects the one they want to prosecute, with each team selecting a different suspect. They are provided with a dossier with additional information and can make any sort of presentation to the DA that they may want to. This can include Infomercials, MTV Music Videos (that used to be a thing), Haikus, whatever!

THE PRINCETON PERMUTATION

This is an adaptation of the Cambridge Solution for much larger groups. Each of the suspects deliver a speech about how they are angry with the person who will be the victim. The murder is announced and then the suspects deliver another speech throwing others under the bus. This can be followed by stationing the suspects around the room to be interrogated or we can move directly to solutions to the crime.

ADD-ONS

We have add-ons that can make your event more effective!

THE PROVIDENCE ADDENDUM

For larger groups, you may want to give the audience a little more of a part. Each person at a table is given a generic character. These are archetypes, like "The Lawyer" or "The Uber Driver" as examples. These characters don't have names and just a generic background. It gives them something fun to play. They each have a couple of pieces of information about the suspects and so have a head start on the mystery. We can provide an additional prize for each table and have them vote at their table for their table's best actor.

THE COLUMBIA COLLABORATION

We can take some members of your audience on a comedic trip through a crime scene and interrogating suspects. There are visual and audio clues and we can either have some people on stage as entertainment, or rotate the entire audience through one team at a time, most likely through a series of sets that we use. Think of it as an escape room where they go room to room until they've solved the crime.

THE DEAD BODY

We can provide an additional actor to play the dead body. this person would come in and die. It will NOT look like a crime scene, but it will provide the opporutnity for individuals or teams to come up and take group photos. That person will later come back and be an assistant to your host.

sleuth
alderman murder mystery 20's

Death of The Alderman

This 1920's themed party involves the election of an Alderman to the local city council. The party is a celebration of his victory and those in attendance are his supporters dressed as flappers and mobsters. This includes the North Side Mob, the South Side Mob, his spouse, political figures and temperance workers. It's a great time had by all and we can add a costume contest as well.

family murder mystery

The Meeting of the Family

This mobster themed show involves the head of the local family. Taking on the personality of your city, the show quickly customizes to the audience involved. Suspects usually include a spouse, a Consigliari, a rival mobster and a politician in the pocket of the mob.

millionaire's mansion

Murder of The Millionaire

One of the more standard scenarios, this involves a millionaire who made his wealth on the backs of many others. This is a celebration were he is making an announcement about the future of his business and those potentially effected are not happy. This likely includes a spouse, a girlfriend, a business partner, a yes-man, a competitor and a politician. By changing characters and changing the origin of his fortune we can quickly customize a scenario just for your group.

spy secret agent

The Murder of 008

Our own take on the spy genre has the death of 008. You Only Live Twice? Not so fast! Our second fiddle secret agent to his more famous counterpart decides to retire and a rogues gallery of suspects emerge.

movie music mogul

The Movie or Music Mogul

This 1940's Hollywood themed party involves the celebration of a movie mogul. The various pseudo famous actors, actresses, writers, singers and directors suffer at the whims of the mogul and one of them has gotten their revenge. While originally performed as being in the 1940s, we have done an 80's Music Mogul scenario or different eras.

custom scenarios

Custom Scenarios

We have a collection of great themes that can fit most any occasion. Additionally, we can create just about any scenario that you can think of, and often at no additional cost. The costs do rise when additional costumes, more actors or travel is required. We have performed practically every thing you can think of and can create new ones as needed. If you have a themed party and would like to see if we can provide a show that will fit, simply ask. There is never an obligation until we get a signed contract.

The Cambridge Solution was created to help keep costs down for charities and uses many of the same themes. It's called the Cambridge Solution because we consider it to be Harvard-Smart. It uses several of your people as characters in the murder instead of our people. In fact, it could also be sponsors for the event playing the characters helping to defray the cost. It's a real fun time and easy to play with one or two of our hosts leading the way!

OUR GOAL is to raise your organization money! With our lower rates for fundraisers and non-profit organizations, we're not really able to make much money for ourselves. So if we're not benefiting and you aren't benefiting, then we shouldn't have the event. We work hard to make certain that a Justifiable Homicide is valuable to your organization. So far we have raised tens of thousands of dollars. Why not put the power of laughter to good use for your charitable organization?

fundraising
raising money

MORE MONEY During many of our fundraising shows we will pull people up to talk to them. We can ask audience members if they want their friends or family brought up for a fee, that would go to the charity. Likewise, people brought up can pay a fee to the charity to be released! We can charge for taking pictures with the victim! We can also provide your organization's fundraisers or leaders with special clues, turning them into confidential informants that will provide information, but for a price!

HOW TO HIRE US

WE GO THROUGH A PROCESS TO BRING YOU THE BEST OPTIONS

1

CALL US

We will have conversations to better explain how this works and to get the details from you that can assist us to help you decide on the best approach for your group.

2

DECIDE ON AN APPROACH

With an understanding of your desired results and details of your event, we work with you to determine the best approach. You, of course, are the decider. We simply advise and concent to get you a plan that will work.

3

CHOOSE A THEME

We work with you to choose a theme. This can be one of our standards, partially customized to your group, or it could be a brand new scenario created just for you. While this can work in things from your family, we usually try to persuade you against that. You don't want your familly and friends thinking that you are actually talking about them as either worthy of killing or capable of being a murderer. We usually recommend a bit of fantasy to allow your guests to fully let go and have fun in the game, leaving the cares and worries of the day behind!

4

CONTRACTING WITH US

Our contracts are in PLAIN ENGLISH. They are usually one page and are meant to allow for a complete understanding of the obligations on both parts. We require a 50% deposit with the balance due one-week prior to the event. The cost of your chosen payment method is passed on to you. We will need to know the gender of participants, if there are any. We would then prepare a scenario for your approval. We would go back and forth until it is the approach you are looking for. A host is assigned, and that person will contact you directly a couple of days before the event.

We provide charity murder mystery dinner shows as part of our Justifiable Homicide program throughout all five boroughs. We can come to your throughout Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island and Queens. We can also come to you on Long Island, all the way to the Hamptons, suburban New Jersey, Westchster County and Fairfield County in Connecticut.

WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW

1

WHAT IS THE REASON?

The first step is to determine your needs. This includes potential goals, desires and concerns. The more we know about what has already been decided can allow us to narrow the conversation to approaches that interest you. You would be surprised how much you can achieve with a murder mystery!

2

WHAT ARE THE DETAILS? WHERE? WHEN? HOW MANY?

We need to know the city where the event will be as well as what kind of venue might be used. A date, or date range, for when you would like to have this and what time frame you are looking for will help to determine our commitment and availability. Knowing the size of your group, though that will likely just be an estimate, will allow us to choose appropriate options and have a better feel for the resources required.

3

DO YOU HAVE A BUDGET?

If you know budget limitations, that can allow us to restrict the conversations to those options that will be within your financial constraints. This works in both directions. We don't want to overbuild and propose options that can't be done. Also, we don't want to provide less than we could realizing the resources that could be made available to better achieve your goals.
